YouthBuild

With love and respect, YouthBuild partners with opportunity youth to build the skillsets and mindsets that lead to lifelong learning, livelihood, and leadership.

Within the opportunity youth population — young adults between the ages of 16 and 24 who are neither in school nor employed — the YouthBuild movement primarily serves young people who lack a high school diploma and financial resources. Across hundreds of YouthBuild programs in the United States and around the globe, YouthBuild participants work together to continue their education, gain job skills, and become leaders in their communities.

Life as a JMCS student at YouthBuild

  • Day 1: We’ve built in time for you to meet the people you’ll be working and learning with. We’ll walk you through policies and expectations. Don’t worry – you don’t have to learn it all today.
  • Week 1: We want you to share your authentic self with us so we can help you develop routines that work for you. We’ll do everything we can to help you show up one day at a time.
  • Month 1: We’ll work with you individually to identify skills you want to develop and credits you need to recover. Together, we’ll develop achievable goals for your academic and career growth.
  • Year 1: Our focus at the end of this year will be connecting you with future employers and preparing you for your transition out of the program.
